There are plenty of events scheduled in and around the Coachella Valley to honor our fallen servicemen and women who fought bravely to defend our freedom.

Memorial Day is Monday, May 25.

Palm Springs Air Museum Flower Drop at 10AM: This year the Palm Springs Air Museum’s Memorial Day Ceremony pays special honor to 27 local families whose loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice. Banners with their names and the date of their sacrifice line the parking lot. After a brief ceremony with color guard and singing of the National Anthem, four fighters (P-38, P-51, P-63 and a Spitfire) will fly overhead and make the missing man formation. A vintage B-25 Bomber will come out of the European Hangar, take off, and after a couple of passes, drop 3,000 carnations from the sky over the Museum’s tarmac behind the museum. The flower drop honors and memorializes all veterans who lost their life defending the US. The white carnations are in honor of those who fought in WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The red carnations are in honor of those who died in more recent conflicts including the Persian Gulf, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan. Events are included with regular admission to the museum which ranges from $9 to $16. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own portable chairs. Active Military and their immediate family with ID and children 5 and under are free. Family rates are $32 and $40, depending on the age of the children. Call 760 -778-6262.
Beaumont – Beaumont Veteran’s Memorial Wall at 11AM – Beaumont will honor local veterans by inscribing 10 names on the Beaumont Veteran’s Memorial Wall. The memorial honors deceased military personnel who lived in Beaumont or Cherry Valley while on active duty or who died later in those communities after their military service ended. As a city, Beaumont respects the enormous sacrifices made by those serving in our armed forces. It is with pride that we inscribe on the Memorial for families the name, rank and military branch of their loved one. Please join us as we honor and pay tribute to these special members of our community. The Veteran’s Memorial is located at the Beaumont Civic Center, 550 E. 6th Street.
