Local high school athletes complete final day at CIF state track and field championships

La Quinta’s Koty Burton headlined five local high school track and field athletes in the CIF State Track and Field Championships on Saturday. Burton finished in fourth place in the 110 meter hurdles (14.20 seconds), .05 seconds behind third place.

La Quinta’s Nirie Boglino placed 12th in the girls triple jump (36 feet, 10.75 inches).

Xavier Prep’s Jah Strange finished 11th in the boys triple jump (45 feet, 4.5 inches).

Shadow Hills’ Jalen Morgan made the finals in the boys discus throw and finished eighth (178 feet, 6 inches).

Yucca Valley’s William Perrance placed sixth in the boys long jump (22 feet, 8 inches).
