Bail increased for suspect captured by police K9
An 18-year-old Palm Springs man who was captured by a police K9 after running from officers last week pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to charges of robbery, kidnapping and resisting arrest.
Teric Wells was arrested on Thursday in the 3600 block of N. Indian Canyon Drive at 9:15 p.m. The alleged robbery and kidnapping was reported at the same location a week prior.
According to police, an officer tried to speak to Wells but the suspect ran from the scene. He didn’t make it too far though because ‘Kane’, a police K9 with the Palm Springs Police Department, was able to capture him nearby.
Officers said Kane is a five year old Belgian Malinois that has been with the Palm Springs Police Department since October, 2011. He wasn’t injured during the arrest.
