Suspected DUI crash sends one to hospital in La Quinta

One person was hospitalized from a crash involving a suspected drunken driver in La Quinta Saturday, authorities said.

The crash was at 12:23 p.m. at Calle Tampico and Washington Street in La Quinta, according to Jennifer Fuhrman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

A green Honda Civic was traveling south on Washington Street and hit a white Toyota Solara that was turning left onto Calle Tampico, Sgt. Randy Wedertz of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.

Marco Andrade, 31, of Rancho Mirage, was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving, Wedertz said.

Firefighters cut one person from their vehicle, who was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs in serious condition, Fuhrman said. At this time, we do not know in which car this person was riding.

No other injuries were reported.

Andrade was booked at the Riverside County jail in Indio, Wedertz said.
