CVUSD offers free breakfast & lunch to kids 18 & under

The Coachella Valley Unified School District is offering free lunch and breakfast to children 18-years-old and younger as part of its Summer Meal program.

Officials with the Nutrition Services Department (NSD) said the program makes free meals available for children of the community at preselected sites around the Coachella Valley. Meals will be served on a first-come first-served basis, as available.

The Summer Meal program begins Tuesday, June 16 and continues through Friday, July 31. During this time, free meals will be offered Monday through Friday with the exception of Friday, July 3.

Federal regulations require that food served may not be shared with people who are 19 and older.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the California Department of Education’s Nutrition Services Division prohibits discrimination in all of their programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age or disability, according to the release.
