Police investigate Sunday night crash in Palm Springs

Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured in a two vehicle crash on East Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs Sunday night. Both vehicles went off the road into a drainage ditch and one of the cars overturned.

According to Lieutenant Mike Kovaleff with the Palm Springs Police Department, the crash happened around 7:20 p.m. in the westbound lanes of E. Palm Canyon Drive at Broadmoor Drive.

A 2002 Honda CRV was driving near a 2012 Toyota Camry when the CRV changed lanes into the path of the Camry. The vehicles collided and both went off the road into the parkway area on the north side of the road, Kovaleff said.

The drivers of both vehicles and a passenger in the Camry were taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries, according to the release.

Kovaleff said alcohol and drugs don’t appear to be factors in the crash, but the cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Officers had to close westbound lanes of E. Palm Canyon Drive for 45 minutes while they were on scene.
