Fake IID truck was holding 14 undocumented immigrants

Border Patrol agents arrested a 23-year-old U.S. citizen on Monday morning after they discovered 14 undocumented immigrants hiding in the bed and rear cabin of his pickup truck.

Authorities said the man also disguised his Ford F-150 to look like a service vehicle for the Imperial Irrigation District. Agents stopped the vehicle as the man was driving northbound on Highway 111 after an agent noticed discrepancies with the markings on the truck.

The agent stopped the truck around 7:30 a.m. and determined it wasn’t a legitimate IID vehicle and the driver wasn’t an employee with the Imperial Irrigation District, according to the release.

The truck was then screened by a Border Patrol canine and the agent discovered 14 people hiding in the bed of the truck under a tarp and in the rear of the passenger cabin.

The driver was arrested at the scene and the 14 undocumented immigrants were transported back to the Calexico Station for processing, authorities said in the release.

The man’s truck was seized by Border Patrol.
