Body found in DHS confirmed to be missing man

A Desert Hot Springs man was recently found dead about a week after he was reported missing, according to police.

Ned Sherk’s body was found in a ravine near the 12200 block of Avenida Alta Loma in Desert Hot Springs on July 8. Officers said the ravine is about 100 yards behind a neighborhood.

According to a release from the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, there was no evidence of foul play at the scene and the coroner’s office began investigating his death.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 confirmed with police that body found was that of 69-year-old Ned Sherk, however, the coroner’s office hasn’t released any updated information regarding the cause of death after performing an autopsy.

Sherk had last been seen walking toward his home in Desert Hot Springs on Thursday, July 2. Officers said he had no mental health issues.
