Indio man arrested after ditching stolen pickup truck
A man from Indio was arrested early Wednesday morning after officers saw him driving a stolen pickup truck.
Police were doing surveillance near Dr. Carreon Boulevard and Calhoun Street around 6 a.m. when they spotted a 1995 white Chevrolet pickup truck that was recently reported stolen in Indio, officers said in the release.
Officers tried to pull over the truck and that’s when the driver, 29-year-old Ruben Dominguez, fled on foot with one passenger. Authorities said Dominguez was arrested shortly after when officers found him hiding in some bushes on the 84200 block of Cabazon Center Road.
Dominguez was arrested without incident but police still haven’t been able to find the passenger; described as a Hispanic man wearing a blue shirt and black shorts.
Dominguez was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio for possession of a stolen car, several misdemeanor warrants for domestic violence and for violating his probation, according to the Indio Police Department.
Jail records show Dominguez was being held without bail on suspicion of drunken driving, receiving stolen property, failure to appear on a previous charge, and two counts of violating a protective order, in addition to violating his probation.
Anyone with information about the incident, or passenger in the stolen truck, can call the Indio Police Department at (760) 391-4057.
