SWAT arrests Thousand Palms man on weapons charges

A Thousand Palms man was arrested early Friday morning after S.W.A.T. and the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force served a weapons related search warrant in the 30-700 block of Calle Jessica, in the unincorporated area of Thousand Palms.

The search warrant took place at 6 a.m. and Osvaldo Perez is now facing multiple charges after authorities said they found a total of 10 firearms in his home.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Perez was arrested for possession of an assault rifle, possession of high-capacity magazines, and possession of a short-barreled rifle.

He was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio on $50,000 bail and he’s due in court Tuesday, according to jail records.
