Man surrenders to police after refusing to leave home

The Indio Police Department responded to a mobile home near Avenue 48 and Madison Street Wednesday afternoon when a distraught family member apparently refused to leave the home.

Police were called to the scene around 3 p.m.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 viewers began contacting our newsroom when they saw a heavy police presence, including a helicopter circling the area.

The incident turned out to be relatively minor. Our crew on scene said the man surrendered to police peacefully around 3:45 p.m. There’s no word if the man is facing any criminal charges at this time.
