Palm Springs names new Fire Chief

The city of Palm Springs names a new chief for the Palm Springs Fire Department.

City Manager David Ready announced they have hiredJ. Kevin Nalder to lead the city’s fire departments on Wednesday. Nalder headed the Kirkland, Washington Fire Department since 2009. Prior to Kirkland, Nalder worked for the Salt Lake City Fire Department from 1985-2009. In Salt Lake City, he worked his way up from Paramedic/Firefighter to Battalion Chief, Fire Marshal and finally Deputy Fire Chief.

“The Palm Springs Fire Department is one of the most outstanding in the nation and I am honored to be chosen to continue leading its long legacy of tradition and excellence,” said Nalder. “I look forward to working with the department’s exceptional crew of firefighting professionals as we dedicate every day to serving and protecting the residents and visitors of Palm Springs.”

He begins his new duties on September 14th.
