UPDATE: One person hospitalized after drunk driver crashes into power poles

On Saturday at 11:55 p.m. the Coachella Police Department responded to a traffic collision with injuries in front of 49950 Grapefruit Blvd. in Coachella. A 2000, GMC pick-up truck was traveling northbound on Grapefruit Blvd. and struck two power poles. The driver was determined to be Jose Antonio Zaragoza Quintero, age 39 of Coachella. The driver was uninjured, but an adult male passenger in the vehicle sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. The passenger was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Quintero was booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing injury to his passenger.
