PSPD investigates after fight breaks out at mayoral candidates forum

Things are heating up in the race for Palm Springs mayor, which was certainly highlighted at Tuesday night’s mayoral candidates forum when a physical altercation broke out between two women in the audience.

According to authorities, officers were called to the Palm Springs American Legion Post, located at 400 North Belardo Road, at about 7:40 p.m. on a report of battery that just occurred at the event.

The Palm Springs Police Department said the investigation involves two women and both of them told officers they were injured by the other during the event.

The first woman was treated for her injuries and released at the scene. The second woman was later contacted by police and said she was also injured during the event by the first woman.

The Palm Springs Police Department is actively investigating the incident and officers are unable to provide any additional details due to the ongoing investigation.

If you have information about the case, you’re asked to call Sergeant Kyle Stjerne at 760-323-8144.
