Coachella man arrested after allegedly threatening man with gun

A 24-year-old man from Coachella was arrested Wednesday afternoon; three days after he allegedly threatened another man with a handgun.

The threat was made Sunday around 9:40 p.m. in the 50800 block of Calle Mendoza in Coachella. According to police, the caller reported the suspect pointed a gun at the other male and threatened him, fleeing the scene before police arrived.

Officers with the Coachella Police Department said Eric Estrada was taken into custody Wednesday around 1 p.m. after the male victim called 911 to report seeing the suspect riding in a dark-colored SUV on Calle Mendoza.

Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and found the suspect traveling on Bagdad Street near Tripoli Way, according to the release.

Eric Estrada was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio and he’s facing charges of making criminal threats and brandishing a weapon. Authorities hadn’t released his booking photo as of Wednesday afternoon.
