Arrests made during DUI checkpoint in Desert Hot Springs

Two people suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol were arrested during a DUI checkpoint in Desert Hot Springs Friday.

Officers were at the 12800 block of Palm Drive from 8 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday conducting their DUI and driver’s license checkpoint. More than 600 vehicles were screened. One person suspected of being drunk was arrested and one drug suspect also taken into custody.

Ten drivers were cited or arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed, or the license was suspended or revoked. Police issued one citation.

Desert Hot Springs police said the checkpoints help improve safety for police officers and the public.
