Arrowhead fire contained, Hwy 18 now open

A small brush fire that erupted in San Bernardino’s Waterman Canyon Sunday afternoon resulted in a temporary closure of Highway 18 as firefighters tried to douse the flames.

The 15-acre fire broke out around 3 p.m. Firefighters from San Bernardino City Fire and San Bernardino County Fire departments are at the scene. Three helicopters, two air tankers and one water tender were assisting to put out the blaze.

Highway 18 was shut down from 40th Street north to Highway 138. It is now open, one lane in each direction.

As of 9:30 p.m. the fire is 100 percent contained.
