Palm Springs mayor says he won’t resign

Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet said he won’t resign from his position in the wake of an FBI raid at City Hall.

Pougnet made the statement at Wednesday night’s highly-anticipated city council meeting. Some rumors were spreading that the mayor may step down after federal agents served search warrants and confiscated information from city computer servers at City Hall on Tuesday.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 learned Wednesday that the mayor hired an attorney out of Sacramento who specializes in white collar criminal investigations that include civil and criminal fraud litigation, tax fraud, and other complex civil litigation.
