Labor Day traffic improving
Heavy Labor Day traffic is beginning to improve east and west of the Coachella Valley.
At 9:45 p.m. Monday there were still back-ups being reported near Desert Center where traffic on Interstate 10 is down to one lane in each direction after a bridge collapsed earlier this summer.
Traffic is also heavy to the west of the Coachella Valley through the Banning Pass but a 13 mile back-up reported by CalTrans between Palm Springs and Banning has dissipated.
Authorities are reminding motorists to allow extra time and remember that a maximum enforcement period continues through tonight.
