Downed power line causes shed fire, damages four homes

UPDATED: A downed power line in Cathedral City caused a shed fire, which spread to nearby homes. Four homes were damaged. It happened in the area of “H” street and San Jacinto Road, in the cove area.

Crews were called out shortly before 3:00 this morning. We’re told told firefighters could not aggressively fight the fire initially because of those downed power lines. The power is still out in the area for six homes. The SCE website says 157 customer are in the dark in Cathedral City, we do not know if that is related to this fire. Power should be restored by 3:00 pm.

The Red Cross is working with the residents of the four damaged homes.
