Female rushed to hospital after being hit by school bus

According to the California Highway Patrol, a school bus hit a pedestrian at Avenue 66 and Filmore Street in the Thermal area near Desert Mirage High School Friday night.

The accident happened around 10 p.m. CHP said the school bus was returning from a field trip.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 had a crew on scene and we found out the victim is a female but we don’t know her age at this time. She was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center.

The extent of her injuries wasn’t immediately known.

Avenue 66 was closed to traffic but officers were able to reopen the road around 11:15 p.m.

The accident is under investigation and details are limited at this time. We’ll post updates as soon as we have more information.
