Resident fights back against home invader near Desert Hot Springs
An 18-year-old Desert Hot Springs man was in custody after he allegedly walked into a home and demanded money and property from the occupants at knifepoint, a sheriff’s sergeant said Saturday.
The incident was at 10:52 p.m. Friday in the 15800 block of Avenida Manzana in unincorporated Desert Hot Springs, said Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Willison.
“A physical altercation ensued leading out of the residence into the front yard,” Willison said. A 20-year-old man who lives in the home suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the altercation and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Austin Martinez was arrested, taken to a hospital for a medical check and then booked into the county jail at Indio, the sergeant said.
