Crews set to build ‘Coachella Gateway’

Construction is scheduled to get underway in Coachella Thursday on a $10.1 million commercial development expected to create 67 permanent jobs when it opens in the coming months.

The mayor, members of the city council and representatives from developer Chandi Group were on hand Thursday morning for a groundbreaking ceremony, which began at 11 a.m., to commemorate the start of building on Coachella Gateway.

Located at 48055 Grapefruit Blvd, the new development will feature an ARCO gas station and an am/pm convenience store, a car wash, a Burger King and a Subway restaurant.

An estimated 125 jobs will be generated during the construction phase.
