Ramon Road partially reopens between Sunrise Way & Farrell Drive
Ramon Road has partially reopened to traffic between Sunrise Way and Farrelll Drive after a car crashed into a power pole on Saturday, knocking out power along the stretch of road in Palm Springs.
Lieutenant Mike Kovaleff said the road was partially reopened Monday at 10 a.m. There’s still one westbound lane that’s closed to traffic, but commuters won’t have to reroute any longer.
Crews had been working to restore power throughout the weekend. A total of 10,041 Southern California Edison customers were affected from the outage. All SCE customers had their power restored by 10 p.m. Sunday.
The single vehicle crashed at Ramon Road and Cerritos Drive and damaged at least four power poles, knocking out power in the area around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Palm Springs police.
Officers said alcohol and or drugs didn’t appear to be factors in the crash. The driver said it was some sort of mechanical failure that led to the accident.
The following signal intersections were affected by the power outage.

-Farrell Road and E Tahquitz Canyon Way
-E Tahquitz Canyon Way and El Cielo Road
