Storms continue to move into lower and higher deserts

Strong storm cells continue to move across the lower and higher deserts. There have been reports of several lightning strikes one in Desert Hot Springs near Mission Lakes and another the North Shore area of the Salton Sea.

In Palm Springs a fast moving storm dumped some rain for several minutes on the downtown area as it moved towards Desert Hot Springs around 5:15 p.m. Minutes later there was a report that a tree on Mission Lakes Blvd, was struck by lightning sparking a tree fire.

In the High Desert some roadways are flooded, and there are reports of power outages in the area.
