LQ Walmart given all-clear after bomb threat proven false

Sheriff’s deputies found nothing suspicious inside the La Quinta Walmart after a bomb threat was reported Friday night.

Authorities said they received a call about a possible bomb inside the store just after 9:30 p.m. After searching the building for close to an hour, they gave the all-clear and began letting employees back inside the store.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department moved customers into the parking lot before moving them even further away after the threat was made.

According to a witness who was there at the time of the evacuation, an employee allegedly notified customers over the store’s loud speaker, saying there was a bomb inside the store.

The store was expected to reopen to the public later Friday evening.
