Ball player ordered to stand trial on rape charges

A former Palm Springs Power baseball player has been ordered to stand trial, accused of raping an unconscious woman at a party in Indio last year.

Today a judge in Indio ruled there was enough evidence for the trial to move forward against 21-year old Trent Pell. He has pleaded not guilty to several charges, including two counts of rape.

Police say the rape happened at a house party on June 16th of last year and witnesses walked in on the attack. Police also say Pell left his cell-phone at the scene.

The Palm Springs Power removed him from the team for disciplinary reasons around the same time as the party. Pell remains free on $200,000 dollars bail. He’s due back in court next month.
