Police K9 helps take down Palm Desert burglary suspect

A Palm Desert man was facing burglary charges Friday morning accused of breaking into a South Palm Desert home.

Officers arrested Jack Stowe, 39, Thursday evening after sending a police dog into a home along the 1700 block of Sand Piper Drive.

Police were called to the home, just south of El Paseo and west of Highway 74, at 5:29 p.m.

They set up a perimeter around the residence, but say Stowe refused to come out.

A police K-9 dog was sent in to retrieve him.

Stowe was then treated at the scene and taken to a hospital for related injuries.

He was in custody Friday morning, held in lieu of $50,000 bail, and is expected in court on Tuesday.
