Highway 86 southbound closed

We’re following breaking news this morning.

The southbound side of state route 86 is shut down just south of the Imperial County line, near 86th Avenue.

12 power poles are down.

If you are traveling from the Coachella Valley, you can use highway 111 as an alternate route to the El Centro area.

We are told CalTtrans is currently working to open one lane in each direction on the northbound side of the 86 Expressway.
