Police search for teen suspect following attempted armed robbery

Desert Hot Springs police are investigating a violent attempted armed robbery that left a teenager with minor injuries Thursday evening.

Officers were called to the 15600 block of Palm Drive just north of Camino Aventura at 6:54 p.m.

A man called to say his son had been assaulted and someone tried to steal his bike.

A teenager said another teen, armed with a black handgun, hit him several times in the face after he refused to give the suspect his bike. The suspect also threatened to shoot him.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, 13 to 15 years of age, wearing a gray t-shirt and unknown colored shorts.

Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
