Zombies invade Palm Springs!

Hoards of zombies took over down Palm Canyon Drive during VillageFest. That sounds like the plot to the next hit cable television show, but Thursday night was the fifth annual Zombie Walk in Downtown Palm Springs.

“I love Halloween, I love dressing as a zombie and scaring people, I like to chase people around and I stay in character the whole time,” said Carlo Nuno who was already in full zombie makeup hours before the walk.

Students with College of the Desert taking classes in theatrical makeup were on hand turning people into ghastly ghouls.

“This is actually an academic environment for them they have learned all basic special effect makeup and now we are implementing it into the annual zombie walk,” said Lynda Shaeps, an instructor with College of the Desert.

The zombie walk isn’t all about jumping out and scaring people. The little ones get to have some fun too. With the whole cast of characters you can expect to see on Halloween. From a little owl to a sweet strawberry and of course more zombies.
