Mayor-Elect Scott Matas hopeful about future
Desert Hot Springs Mayor-Elect Scott Matas is hopeful about the city’s future as he gets ready to take the gavel.
Matas appeared Thursday night on KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 after last week’s victory over incumbent Adam Sanchez.
Matas spoke about efforts to fight crime in the city after two people were shot Thursday in Tedesco Park.
He also said Mayor Sanchez hasn’t called him to concede the race and doesn’t know if Sanchez might ask for a recount before Monday’s deadline.
Matas beat Sanchez by just 63 votes and Sanchez hasn’t returned calls from News Channel 3/CBS Local 2 about the election and whether he will ask for a recount.
