Man charged in robbery of escort in Palm Springs
On Tuesday prosecutors filed felony charges against a 28-year-old man accused of brandishing a weapon and robbing a female escort as she arrived at a Palm Springs hotel to meet a client.
Zachary Daniel Snider was scheduled to be arraigned in Indio Tuesday afternoon on charges of robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The female escort who was robbed in Palm Springs was targeted at about 2:30 a.m. on September 23. Police are still seeking Snider’s alleged accomplice, described as a white man, 20 to 25 years old, about 5-foot-8, with a thin build and tattoos on his arms.
Lt. Mike Kovaleff with the Palm Springs Police Department said Snider, of Big Bear Lake, was taken into custody at 8 p.m. Thursday at a home in Moreno Valley. Officers found Snider shortly after serving a search warrant at a residence in Big Bear Lake.
The armed robbery occurred outside of a hotel in the 100 block of South Cahuilla Road in Palm Springs. The licensed female escort was approached by two men as she walked outside of the hotel. She told police the suspects took her purse and drove away from the scene.
The client that the victim was supposed to meet at the hotel was never found.
Lt. Kovaleff said Snider was taken to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning and he’s facing felony charges of robbery, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and violating probation.
Snider was being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the Riverside County P.A.C.T. East and West Teams assisted the Palm Springs Police Department with the investigation.
