Sex offender arrested in Palm Desert compliance check
Deputies recently conducted compliance checks on 67 registered sex offenders in Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and the unincorporated areas within the jurisdiction of the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station.
The compliance checks took place on Monday and Tuesday.
Authorities said 51 of the registered sex offenders were in compliance of the law but 15 others weren’t home at the time, so followup checks will be conducted soon.
One of the registered sex offenders was arrested during the operation for violating his parole. Deputies said 25-year-old Cutberto Vidrio of Palm Desert was booked into the Riverside County Jail for the parole violation.
Deputies didn’t elaborate on Vidrio’s parole violation.
According to the release, investigators from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station conduct random visits on all registered sex offenders within the station’s jurisdiction to ensure the safety of the community and to enforce mandatory registration requirements.
Anyone with information about registered sex offenders violating the law in the area is asked to call Deputy Lina Gama with the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station at 760-836-1600.
