Free pet adoptions on Black Saturday
The Riverside County Department of Animal Services is waiving all adoption fees at its largest animal shelters Saturday to encourage visitors to give a home to a four-legged friend this holiday season.
“Sure, you might be able to get a great deal on a TV on Black Friday, but a dog or cat will love you back forever,” said Robert Miller, director of Riverside County Animal Services. “We think a great way to celebrate this holiday week is by adding a new family member.”
The Thousand Palms, San Jacinto and Blythe shelters will waive spay/neuter, microchipping and vaccination fees for dogs and cats. Such adoptions normally cost as much as $105 for dogs and $65 for kittens.
Animal Services officials warn, however, that some adopters may have to pay for a $16 dog license, depending on where they live.
Adopters must also present valid identification.
