Coachella Valley churches honor San Bernardino shooting victims
Catholic faithful gathered at Sacred Heart church in Palm Desert for a church service paying tribute to the victims in San Bernardino. The impact of the terrorist attack last Wednesday was felt in the Coachella Valley.
“It was horror, horror that it had come so close to us. It wasn’t on foreign land, it was here,” said Father Howard Lincoln.
“We’re going to have to pay attention to what’s happening. Unfortunately this is something that’s between good and evil, in my mind,” said LaRose Hunt.
Church goers recognized the need for change, less hate and violence and instead more prayer and positivity.
“Today I will make everyone I come into contact with feel special, either by a smile or a compliment,” said Elizabeth Schadrack.
Father Lincoln led the morning of prayer with hopes those who lost loved ones in the shooting will be comforted and strengthened.
“I pray for them everyday,” said Schadrack.
Local government leaders, law enforcement and religious leaders will gather Monday morning to address the San Bernardino attack. We will have continuing coverage on the air and online.
