Teen straps heroin to body using women’s spandex suit

A 16-year-old boy is being investigated by the D.E.A. after Border Patrol agents found almost four lbs. of heroin strapped to his body at the Highway 86 checkpoint on Wednesday.

Agents said the boy, a U.S. citizen, was traveling on a commercial bus that pulled up to the checkpoint at about 4 p.m.

During an immigration check, agents said they noticed the boy appeared nervous and a pat-down inspection revealed four packages of heroin wrapped around his abdomen. The heroin was held in place by a women’s spandex body suit, according to the Border Patrol’s release.

Authorities said the heroin weighed 3.85 lbs. and it’s estimated to be worth $46,200 on the street.

“The agents of the El Centro Sector Border Patrol continue to safeguard our nation and its citizens by keeping dangerous drugs such as these from reaching our streets,” said Acting Chief Patrol Agent Roy Villareal.

The suspected drug smuggler and the heroin were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
