Rancho Mirage resident arrested for burglary, vehicle theft and insurance fraud
A Rancho Mirage man was behind bars Friday in connection with a burglary and insurance fraud investigation.
Anthony Sebastian Arthur, 31, was being held in lieu of $35,000 bail at the Riverside County jail in Indio, where he was booked on suspicion of drug possession, burglary, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, being under the influence and driving on a suspended license, jail records show.
Arthur’s Thursday arrest stems from an investigation launched Nov. 12 into a residential burglary in the 34000 block of Mission Hills Drive, sheriff’s Sgt. Aaron Eller said. An intruder entered the home and stole electronics and other personal property, the sergeant said.
On Nov. 24, investigators determined that the same suspect had allegedly conspired with relatives to fake an auto theft from a business parking lot in Palm Desert, Eller said.
On Thursday, sheriff’s investigators served a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Via San Lucia in Rancho Mirage and allegedly found property from the residential burglary, drugs and evidence related to the insurance fraud, including the location of the vehicle, Eller said.
Also arrested at the home was 27-year-old Lauren Haney, who was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor theft warrant, the sergeant said.
Arthur was scheduled to make his initial court appearance in Indio on Monday.
