Man arrested for attacking roommate with scissors
A man suspected of assaulting two people, including his roommate with a pair of scissors, was in custody Sunday, according to police.
Robert Lynn Johnson, 62, was arrested Saturday for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Officers were dispatched at 8 p.m. Saturday to the 15000 block of Palm Drive, where Johnson’s roommate told police that he saw Johnson and another person involved in an argument.
The roommate tried to intervene and was attacked by Johnson, said Sgt. Daud Chang of the Desert Hot Springs Police Department. Johnson struck the roommate several times in the face and head with his fists and the handle of the scissors, Chang said. The roommate was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Johnson was booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, where he was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
