Wind, blowing sand blamed for 4 car pile up in Desert Center

High winds and blowing sand are being blamed for a multiple car pile up on I-10 in Desert Center.

CAL FIRE reports around 8:30 Saturday morning four cars crashed on westbound I-10 at Ford Dry Lake in Desert Center.

At the time winds were blowing 40 to 45 mile per hour with blowing sand.

CAL FIRE said a total of 14 people were hurt, half were taken to the hospital, 2 with moderate injuries and 5 with minor injuries.

The remaining 7 people hurt were treated by paramedics on scene.
