Yucca Valley man arrested for attempted murder

A Yucca Valley man is behind bars for attempted murder.

Yesterday, deputies responded to the report of an attempted murder at the Best Western Hotel in Yucca Valley. They were told an employee saw the suspect, Sherman Brant, rummaging through the hotel’s dumpsters. The employee told Brant to stop and to leave and that he was calling police. Brant got upset and pulled out a knife, trying to stab the victim in the head.

Brant then ran away, but the employee chased him, all the while relaying information to police- who eventually found brant east of the hotel crossing hwy 62. The victim sustained moderate injuries to his head.

Brant was arrested and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for attempt murder and is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.
