Palm Springs rings in the New Year with concert and fireworks

This is the first year the Spa Resort and Casino has hosted a large outdoor New Years Eve celebration.

It’s one of the largest New Years Eve celebrations in the Coachella Valley for the past several years.

The 1980’s rock band Starship the main act of the evening taking to the stage.

“I am totally ecstatic and I cannot wait for Starship, the more people down here the merrier and if you are not here you are missing it,” said Lois Bondurich who was working a raising money for the Boys and Girls Club.

“It’s my first year I ever came to Palm Springs for New Years and I am amazed it’s awesome and I am just enjoying myself,” said Neal Cohen who is visiting from Los Angeles.

Instead of watching a ball drop, at midnight the Spa Resort has a 40 foot LED palm tree that that goes up instead of down. Then there was a large firework display to ring in 2016.
