Original Story:

A new social media campaign was launched by Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Tuesday morning in attempt to motivate Ryan Seacrest to attend the groundbreaking of the new hospital tower on May 22.

Hospital officials said the video features current and past patients of LLUCH, community members and San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan. In the video, Chief Burguan says, “Help us bring hope to our community and shine a light during our darkest hour by supporting our new Children’s Hospital.”

According to the release, LLUCH serves nearly 1.2 million children, including those in San Bernardino County.

Officials explained why they were asking Seacrest, best known as host of ‘American Idol’ and radio personality of KIIS FM, to attend the groundbreaking ceremony. They said he also founded a nonprofit organization called the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, which is dedicated to inspiring kids through entertainment and education-focused initiatives, according to the organization’s website.

“With the tragic events that recently took place right in our neighborhood, our team has been looking for ways to bring hope to our community,” said hospital CEO, Kerry Heinrich. “The new Children’s Hospital tower will enhance our abilities to care for our community’s children. We are impressed by Seacrest’s vision for patient care and feel his philosophy related to pediatric health care and healing align with that of Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.”

Hospital officials are encouraging the community to join the campaign to motivate Ryan Seacrest to attend the groundbreaking of the new hospital tower by spreading the word on their own social media accounts with #SeacrestforSanB.
