Southwest Arts Festival celebrates 30th anniversary

The 30th anniversary of the Southwest Arts Festival takes place January 29-31 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. CBS Local 2 is a proud sponsor of the event and we’d like to invite the community to one of the areas largest and longest-running art festivals.

The Empire Polo Club is located at 81-800 Avenue 51.

According to organizers, the festival will feature traditional, contemporary, and abstract fine works of art by more than 240 acclaimed artists. Categories include clay, drawing, glass, jewelry, metal, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textile, and other arts.

New to this year’s festival is the addition of the popular Objet Trouve? Found Art Festival. Objet trouv, which means “found object” in French, represents an artistic style that uses everyday objects and “found” materials to create stimulating visual displays. Showcasing a variety of artists who create these innovative art forms, the Objet Trouve? Found Art Festival will also feature hands-on art demonstrations, organizers said.

Named one of the Top 100 Events in North America by the American Bus Association, the Festival is a nationally recognized cultural event that attracts professional artists from as far away as Montana, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Maryland, according to the festival’s website.

The festival will also feature a variety of al fresco dining options and entertainment by talented local musicians.

The three-day family friendly festival will be open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily, and admission is:

Seniors – $8
General – $10
Three-Day Pass – $12
Children 14 & under – Free

CBS Local 2 hopes you, your family and friends can make it out to this great community event.
