Indio Chief of Police to step down in June
Indio’s Chief of Police Richard P. Twiss has announced his upcoming retirement after serving more than 30 years as a peace officer.
Chief Twiss said he will be retiring on June 8, 2016. He offered the following statement to KESQ and CBS Local 2 Wednesday morning:
“I have selected a service retirement date of June 8, 2016 which will toll over 30 service credit years as a peace officer. It has been an honor not many receive to serve the community I love and have raised my family in as Chief of Police. My loving wife of 25 years Anna preceded me in retirement and has been patiently waiting for me to join her so we may begin the next season of our life together. I’m blessed to be joining her in a few short months with my health intact after an amazing career in a profession that has been the calling of my life. I’m truly fortunate to know that through those years I’ve had the opportunity to play a small part in helping my community and changing some people’s lives.”
We’ll provide updates as Chief Twiss’ retirement approaches and the Indio Police Department begins looking for his replacement.
