Man arrested for DUI in DHS crash that closed Palm Drive

A 46-year-old man from Desert Hot Springs was arrested for driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license after he caused a crash on Palm Drive Thursday night.

The crash happened at about 10 p.m. on Palm Drive at Cam Idilio.

Officer Mike Radford with the California Highway Patrol said Refugio Lopez was booked into the Riverside County Jail shortly after the two-car crash.

Radford said Lopez was driving a Chevy Avalanche and struck a Range Rover. Nobody was injured but the northbound lane of Palm Drive at Dillon road was closed while officers investigated the crash and cleared the roadway.
