A Night of Honor Rebuilding America’s Warriors in Indian Wells
A Night of Honor Gala at the Hyatt Regency Resort in Indian Wells Saturday recognized wounded veterans from across the country who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
About 500 people attended the event to benefit Rebuilding America’s Warriors also known as RAW, a non-profit dedicated to providing free reconstructive surgery to wounded veterans.
“It’s rebuilding wounded warriors,” said La Quinta Mayor Linda Evans. “It’s all about the contributions of physicians and dentists that are taking care of our warriors and our veterans, that have lost limbs, that have lost eyesight, that have lost hands, and really a piece of their heart. It’s about giving back and we’re showing that recognition to those veterans who have served our country.”
The evening honored Army veteran Bryan Anderson, a triple amputee of the Iraq war and actor in the film ‘American Sniper.’ He also received a proclamation from the City of La Quinta.
“He was moved by our appreciation and it was really our honor to meet him and thank him for what he’s done,” said Evans.
Major League Baseball player and broadcaster Ron Farley hosted the evening.
RAW was founded by Rancho Mirage resident Maggie Lockridge, a retired reconstructive surgical nurse who recognized her background and surgical network could greatly assist the thousands of wounded warriors.
