Man identified after deadly motorcycle crash in Palm Springs

The motorcyclist who died in a crash in Palm Springs earlier this week has now been identified by authorities. Jonathan Tolentino, a 24-year-old Cathedral City resident, succumbed to injuries early Wednesday morning at the hospital, according officials.

Lt. Mike Kovaleff with the Palm Springs Police Department said Tolentino died at about 4 a.m. after suffering major injuries in the crash on Farrell Drive and Baristo Road Monday afternoon.

Officers said a gray Dodge Charger collided with a black Yamaha motorcycle at about 3:20 p.m. Monday. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

Baristo Road was closed to westbound traffic at Compadre Road and closed to eastbound traffic west of the intersection.

Ferrell Drive was also closed for several hours to northbound traffic at Ramon Road and closed to southbound traffic, south of Tahquitz Canyon Way.

KESQ and CBS Local 2 will deliver updates as the police department continues to investigate.
