Roger Federer bows out of BNP Paribas Open due to knee rehab
Roger Federer announced via Facebook that he won’t be able to compete in the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells this year.
Federer said the rehab for his knees is going really well, but because it’s a long year, he doesn’t want to push it too hard by coming back too soon. He said it’s unfortunate that he won’t be able to make it to the great event in Indian Wells, but he does plan on playing in the desert next year.
Federer became the most prolific Champion at the BNP Paribas Open, dispatching American John Isner for his fourth title in Indian Wells. Federer remains the only four-time winner in the event’s history, with Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Jimmy Connors hoisting the trophy on three occasions, according to The Best of Indian Wells.
