Fred Waring Drive back open after crash at Monterey Avenue

Authorities have reopened eastbound Fred Waring Drive at Monterey Avenue after a two-car crash forced them to close a portion of the road Friday afternoon.

Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said the crash occurred in the intersection and emergency crews responded at about 12:40 p.m.

There weren’t any serious injuries stemming from the accident, but authorities had to cut off traffic to remove the vehicles from the road.

Traffic was shut down along Monterey in the area throughout much of the day Thursday when two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle, close to the same intersection. Sadly, a 10-year-old boy died in the collision.
